Recommendations on the GPS?
Looking to buy a GPS system for my in laws that are on the road a lot. (semi-retired and all trailer cross-country). I need a recommendation on a GPS system of their choosing. would ideally like a) display of 3.5 inches or more. b) Text to speech (turn left onto Elm Street, as opposed to turn left in .1 mile) c) Easy interface. (old who have an aversion to technology) d) The live weather updates and traffic (in this issue I need to subscribe to get it)? e) How accurate is the GPS in the back roads Oregon, Idaho, az? f) a must POI – Petrol. hotels campsites. restraunts. g) under $ 300 – $ 350 (hey I m cheap and they are my in-laws) h) Other accessories not required (MP3, Bluetooth, etc. etc.) i) automatic recalculation j) to-lose-them-when-we-come-visit-me functionality I Shrunk my choices to the next. We have a Tom Tom and it works pretty well. He sent us some interesting non-direct routes, so I always cross check with common sense. All receivers GPS is extremely accurate (provided you have a good signal) down to a few feet in most cases. Issues with "back" roads "have more to do with the database system of each particular device. The GPS will always" know "where it relates to other points data within the device I was not off-road with our Tom Tom so I'm not sure if the roads are back there. I would go to retailer and ask for a demonstration.
