My Honda outboard is not pumping. Does the lower unit must be completely in water?
I have a 2001 Honda 50hp outboard, and we were running it on the ground after some maintenance in a bucket of water. The lower unit was not completely under water. Does it have the water pump?
The tank should hold about 120 gallons of water and be at least 30 inches deep, as a cattle trough, even then, you can run the motor to its limit. Assuming you have ear protection (attachment Flush water) that is fed by a water hose, then you can run rpm max limited. Depending on the interview you did, you may not be deep enough in your pail to keep the water pump to suck air, so it will overheat in a few seconds and may be necessary to be replaced.
