The scooter has been received and assembled, now finally at long-awaited start of the scooter. The desire to stick the key into the hole, press button and hear the engine roar is near irresistible …

But we must resist. Although the above may sound ideal, is not the case. Imagine a car that was parked for six months, it may not start on the first try. In this case we are talking about a scooter that may have been sitting for 6 months or more to have traveled by sea for 2 or 3 weeks; carburetors like the fresh salty sea air.

This article aims to guide owners a first scooter to start their scooter correctly without blowing anything.

Dos and Don'ts:

1. If the scooter is 50 or 150cc, Do not try the electric start, first kick begin
2. Never, under any circumstances, try to revive the scooter
3. Avoid using a charger. The engine recharges the battery when it is started. If a charger is used, ensure that it is a Charger bike no more than 2 amps
4. If the scooter is equipped with an alarm, do not alarm or remote starter up that the scooter has begun
5. Buy the most expensive fuel and fill the gas tank on full height
6. Do not use fuel additives or carburetor cleaner solution
7. Once the scooter is started, be ready to go for at least 15 minutes to charge the battery – leaving the burden engine battery is by far the best

Remember that a new battery very fragile. If it is any lower, she may get permanent damage and damage to other components such as fuse, voltage regulator and / or CDI unit. To protect the battery and other components, all 50cc and 150cc scooters should be first started with the kick and then start trying the electric start on a few occasions as described below.

Like most 250cc scooters do not have a kick start, 250cc scooter owners should follow the procedure Electric start.

To start the procedure:

1. Fill the gas tank on full height with the best fuel available
2. Put the bike on center stand
3. Check the circuit breaker is directed towards the circle, not X
4. If the scooter came with remote control click unlock twice
5. Turn the key to the location
6. Accelerate all the way and keep repeating the full gas 1 seconds 3 times
7. Unfold the kick-start, push down gently with your foot halfway
8. Allow to start back up
9. Kick the re vigorously 3 or 4 times in a row making sure the starter is at the bottom and comes all the way back every time
10. Then continue on acceleration all the way (step 6) and kicked all the way a few times (step 9)
11. Do not accelerate while beating foot

Try the electric start only after having tried to start the bike as described above with the kick-start.

Electric start procedure:

1. Follow steps 1 through 6 in the kick-start procedure above
2. Hold the rear brake
3. Turn gently on the accelerator to the microphone of the slack, not accelerating, just to keep the soft
4. Press the start button for 3 seconds and release
5. Accelerate all the way and let go, take any slack in the throttle
6. Press the start button for 3 seconds and release
7. Let the engine cool electric start for 30 or 40 seconds and repeat the above steps again.

Overheated engine electric start may also damage the scooter blowing the starter motor, fuse and other electrical parts.

If the bike does not start, do not try to process electric start more than 2 times, but return to the starting procedure kick and repeat 2 or 3 times. It may take a few tries, most of the bikes from the test 2nd or 3rd.

If all else fails:

Some scooters I have trouble starting. This may be due to several factors. In 90% of cases, failure to start is due to no or not enough fuel into the carburetor. The easiest way to check and cure it, is to begin the carburetor manually:

1. Open seat
2. Unscrew the screw access panel carburetor (usually a single screw)
3. Remove the access panel and locate the carburetor
4. The top of the carburetor is like a dome of metal with 2 screws holding
5. Remove the 2 screws from the top of Carburetor
6. Put 3 to 4 tablespoons of gasoline directly into the carburetor,
7. Replace the top of the carburetor and secure with 2 screws
8. Follow the procedure of electric start only if it has not been followed by more than 3 times, otherwise kick-start

If the scooter will not start not after the above, people with limited mechanical knowledge and those who know just enough to be dangerous are encouraged to contact the technical support of scooter dealer where the purchase was made or seek advice from a professional motorcycle mechanic.

Chinese scooters have a gravity fuel system. This means that the fuel pump only works when the engine is started. It may take some effort to start the scooter In addition, the battery is brand new and does not contain much charge. It too gets recharged when the engine is running.
