Can I program Longitude / Latitude coords in a GPS?
I'm considering buying a cheap GPS (probably a Garmin eTrex H) but I would be able to store longitude and latitude (from Google Maps) while I'm at home. Here, I would be able to find a location with Google Earth, except that long / lat coords on my GPS, then walk there using my GPS. Is it possible the Garmin eTrex? The online specifications say it has no "memory", but surely it must be able to store information, it does store waypoints, etc. What does it mean to say he has no memory? What points of interest?
The eTrex H can store 500 waypoints. It has memory, but memory is irrelevant because you can store waypoints, tracks and routes. These are limited quantities by individuals, not the amount of memory available. In addition to units capable, the amount of memory issues because you can store in memory cards and the amount of the sample card you can store depends on the detailed map in the area that you store. It is more logical to say that you can store 24 MB card to say that you can store 35,000 routes and 93,000 points of interest (those made to numbers). As for recording details of Google Earth, do note that Google Earth may be using a format other than coordinate the eTrex. Or they can be changed, but I think the default Google Earth is degrees minutes seconds while the eTrex uses decimal minutes. Sure adjust the GPS receiver and Google Earth to use the same format coordinate, otherwise you will not be able to enter the coords on the GPS or On entering the coords wrong.
